Hargus received a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She also acquired a minor in Asian Studies. Later, she joined a team of 50 activists through Global Zero’s Action Corps and trained on how to lobby world and local leaders. Since then, Hargus formed teams of activists dedicated to nuclear abolition and organized multiple events while networking with experts. She also conducted research on the alternative methods for discussing nuclear abolition by focusing mainly on the international criminal justice ideology of Restorative Justice. Hargus created this blog as an open forum for activists from every corner of the world to come together and create a site where people can make conscious and informed decisions on solid action. She focuses on recruiting writers from every special interest to make a unique and collaborative experience. Since its creation, The Conscious Activist has reached readers in over 20 countries- and counting!
Alexa is a writer and poet in California. When she’s not busy chasing around her 3 small children, she focuses her interests on feminism and ethics. In 2014, she started an active living support group in 3 cities with over 3,000 members for women during the postpartum period to combat and support those with postpartum depression. Adam Canal was born and raised in rural Western North Carolina. Canal received three Bachelor of Science degrees in Horticultural Science, Plant Biology, and Crop Biotechnology from North Carolina State University in 2016. He is currently working on his Master of Science degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics at North Carolina State University in the Department of Horticultural Science. His research includes a relatedness analysis of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas Lam.) among global centers of diversity, quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis for anthocyanin pigment inheritance in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), and identification of genetic markers for breeding against internal heat necrosis in potato. He has a passion for educating people about science and agriculture, which he channels into his work as Agriculture Editor for The Conscious Activist. Kate Jameson Fowler is a native of Asheville, NC, which harbors her love for the outdoors and culture. She loves spending time playing with her daughter, husband, Pitbull, and cat. Fowler first attended school at UNC Asheville for a degree in Religious Studies, but found another path working with a tech company and pursuing her other passions. Some of those passions include conservation work, photography, creating medicinal teas and training to work as a doula to help mothers start exciting new chapters in their lives. Her greatest love of all is leaving a lasting impact on her fellow humans.

Jillian Perrine graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Agriculture Education. Currently, she teaches high school horticulture in Charlotte, NC. While in Durham, she worked on the raptor team doing raptor care and outreach at Piedmont Wildlife Center. Now, in her free time, Perrine dedicates herself as a transport volunteer at the Carolina Raptor Center; she acts as a first responder to emergency bird situations. Perrine now joins The Conscious Activist to share her experience and outreach on Raptor Conservation through volunteer work and writing.

Currently touring with the act, Travers Brothership, Clark has been performing professionally for nearly 11 years. Peace Culture Village, a non-profit organization, international eco-village and peace training camp in rural Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Her original work in nuclear abolition came about through Global Zero, an organization dedicated to the non-proliferation and abolition of nuclear weapons worldwide. But after doing some soul searching, Popeo found herself better suited to advocating for peace.
